President of India writes to President of Italy conveying condoles
on loss of lives in earthquake in Italy
The President of India, Shri Pranab
Mukherjee has written to His Excellency Mr. Sergio Mattarella, the President of
the Italian Republic, conveying his condolences on the loss of lives and
destruction of properties in the earthquake in Central Italy.
In his message, the President has said, “I was deeply saddened to hear of the earthquake
that struck Central Italy.
On behalf of the people
of India I offer heartfelt condolences to those who have lost family members or
seen their homes and property destroyed.
We pray for the speedy recovery of the injured and for the success of the
rescue efforts launched by your Government and local authorities”.
